[Neighbor is] not he whom I find in my path, but rather he in whose path I place myself,
he whom I approach and actively seek. ― Gustavo Gutiérrez
We believe that life transformation begins and occurs in the context of relationship, with Jesus and others. Through Rooted, you will begin to see God and God’s plan for your life in new ways. Whether you’ve been a Christian for a long time or are new to faith in Christ, Rooted will grow your relationship with God while building community at the Harrisburg Brethren in Christ Church. Rooted is beyond a program, a series of classes, or small group; it is catalyst for life change. Rooted provokes questions and conversations, and offers group experiences designed to give you a glimpse of your purpose in God’s story.

Following Christ Into All Of Life (adults of all ages)
Leaders: Pastor Woody Dalton, Tony House, Keith Chase, & Peggy Spellman
When & Where: Sundays @ 9 am in the upstairs front meeting area
Focus: This group will actively pursue what it means to be transformed, not just informed. We will study selected passages of scripture together, pray for each other, and then seek to act on what the scriptures and Spirit lead us toward. The goal is to be open to the Spirit as He uses the word He inspired, journeying together in gentle accountability and obedience as the Spirit changes us. We will learn what it really means to be saved, how the Spirit leads, and how we are to follow Christ into all of life, which is the definition of discipleship. This will include studying scriptures on parenting, marriage, work and witness, life together as
Berean Class (adults of all ages)
Leader: Allen Carr
When & Where: Sundays @ 11 am in the upstairs front meeting area
Focus: Bereans were the inhabitants of the ancient city of Berea, also known in the Bible as Beroea and now known as Veria. According to the Acts 17:11, Paul of Tarsus and Silas preached at Berea, and the inhabitants “eagerly examined the scriptures every day to see whether these things were so”, and many of them believed.
Today…being referred to as a Berean would define us as people who are faithful in testing what we are told against what the Word of God has to say on matters of life and living.
We invite you to join us for the Berean Bible Study Class this Spring. It is a scripture-based class with opportunity for prayer, praise and lively discussion.

A Life Group is a small group gathering (between 6 to 12 people) that meets on a regular basis to ‘do life’ together. It is an effective way for everyone to feel personally connected to the Harrisburg Brethren in Christ Church community and to learn and grow in an intimate and supportive environment.
Each group is unique, and may include any or all of the following: fellowship, prayer, worship, study of Scripture, or service. Most people who have been a part of a life group say the greatest benefit is the close relationships that develop. In a group of 6 to 12, members learn to participate in prayer by having a conversation together with God, to study God’s Word in community, and to share personal gifts and talents with each other. Life Groups also offer a sense of stability and security through providing support and care in times of crisis, change, and stress.

Have you ever wondered what church membership is all about? In church membership, individuals submit themselves to the authority of the Bible, proclaim their faith in Christ and their desire to live a holy life, and commit themselves to the teaching and ministry of HBIC. Such a commitment is lived out by attending, serving, giving, and caring for one’s brothers and sisters in Christ. The leadership of our church also pledges to assist members with care, counsel, encouragement, prayer, and spiritual growth.
Learn more about membership...
If you are interested in learning more about membership in the Brethren in Christ, and in our church in particular, plan to take the Rooted Series classes in January or March 2020 then join Pastors Hank and Lynda for a Membership Class that will be offered on Sunday, March 29, following the morning worship services. We’ll begin with a light lunch together at 12:45 pm in the CE Room, followed by the class session.
Be sure to sign up at the Information Center or by contacting the church office (email@example.com; 561-2170).
