Home Visiting HBIC Once You're Here
Once You're Here

We are excited about your interest in the Harrisburg Brethren in Christ Church and want to help make your visit enjoyable. If you're looking for a church family, we trust you'll feel comfortable here and will want to return. If you're simply in the area visiting and decide to "check us out," we do hope you'll visit with us again should you travels bring you back to the area. We trust your first visit to HBIC will not be your last!

We realize that visiting a church for the first time can sometimes be uncomfortable, so we are striving to minimize as much anxiety as possible before you arrive. Here are a few things you may find helpful.

parking.jpgWhere to Park...

Once you arrive, there are several parking options available to you. In addition to parking on Greenwood Street and 22nd Street, you will find the following designated parking areas...

  • "P1" is a parking lot on top of the main sanctuary/auditorium. The lot entrance is on Derry Street.  There is also on-street parking near the building on both 22nd and Greenwood Streets.
  • "P2" is on the corner of Derry Street and 22nd Street. The lot entrance is on Derry Street.
  • "P3" Is across from the main sanctuary entrance at the corner of Greenwood and 22nd Streets, with its entrance on 22nd Street. The lot is surrounded by chainlink fence.

If possible, please leave parking spaces in the lower level areas, near the main entrance ("S") for those who may have difficulty walking up and down the hill. Handicapped parking can be found at the side of the church on Greenwood Street and in parking lots "P1" and "P3."

Where to Enter Our Facility...

The building's main entrance is located at the bottom of the hill, on the corner of Greenwood Street and 22nd Street ("S"). You may also enter the facility via an entrance at the upper deck parking area or the main office entrance on Derry Street or the entrance at the back of the Christian education wing on Greenwood Street.

Upon Entering Our Facility...

Once you enter the facility through the main entrance at 22nd and Greewood Streets you will be in the lobby.   The sanctuary/auditorium is located directly in front of you, through the double doors. To your right you will find restrooms. At the far end of the lobby you will find coat racks on the wall and a double doorway that leads to the "unfinished space" where the youth and some adult fellowship classes meet.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask someone. We want to help you feel comfortable at Harrisburg BIC.

Discipleship Hour (a.k.a Sunday School)...

Our discipleship time takes place from 9:00-10:15. Post-high school and adult classes are meeting throughout the facility and in several rooms in the Christian Education wing. Children and Youth also meet in the Children's Christian Education wing, beyond the hall behind the auditorium platform area. Please note that some parts of our facility are a work in progress (be sure to ask about the history of our current facility - it's very unique).  Even though some of our facility still lacks some "warmth" in appearance, we hope to make up for it by making you feel like family.

Worship Service...

Our worship service takes place from 10:30 till 12:00 in the sanctuary/auditorium. Here you will find people from a variety ethnic groups and walks of life. We are a "family" and trust you'll sense the family spirit that God has blessed us with. Dress comfortably and enjoy the music, the teaching from the Bible, and the fellowship. We won't pressure you to participate in a specific way, but hope you will feel the freedom to participate in whatever way is comfortable to you!

Parents: We also provide opportunities during the worship service that are designed especially for your children. We encourage you to consider these opportunities for your kids (but we fully understand if they would prefer to remain with you!). Information about Sunday morning children's programming can be found on the Children's Ministries web page.

If you have questions...

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. That's one of the reasons we're here --- to help each other! If you have comments or suggestions, be sure to tell us.  If you enjoy your time spent with us, be sure to tell others!
