Life groups have one, simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life he intends for us. Sharing life with each other is part of our design, and it is through doing life together that our problems become smaller, and God uses others to bring healing, support and encouragement to our lives. Your small group will quickly become a place where others don’t just know your name, but care about what is happening in your life. It is also your opportunity to be used of God to bring these very same things into the lives of others!
Each group is unique, and may include any or all of the following: fellowship, prayer, worship, study of Scripture, or service. Most people who have been a part of a life group say the greatest benefit is the close relationships that develop. In a group of 6 to 12, members learn to participate in prayer by having a conversation together with God, to study God’s Word in community, and to share personal gifts and talents with each other. Life groups also offer a sense of stability and security through providing support and care in times of crisis, change, and stress.
For All Adults
Focus: The purpose of this group is to be intentional about creating a sacred, holy space where the experience of God can become known to us in deeper ways, in hope that we can begin to incorporate these experiences into our daily lives.
When & Where: 1st and 3rd Monday, 6:30-8 pm in the Prayer Room, beginning in October.
Leader: Zach Maser (814-883-7754; ZacharyDavidArts@gmail.com)
Focus: We’ll be exploring themes drawn from 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us,” exploring what it means to have friendship and freedom in Christ, and how to grow in our relationship with Him.
When & Where: 1st & 3rd Thursday, 6 to 8 pm, at the Michael’s home (416 N 21st Street, Camp Hill); contact for a fall start date.
Leaders: Barnado & Shanti Michael (982-4845; firstname.lastname@example.org)
Focus: Fellowship, sharing, study of the stories behind the great hymns, singing, & prayer.
When & Where: Every other Sunday from 4 to 6 pm (includes a light meal) at the Miller’s home (3019 N. 3rd Street, Harrisburg).
Leaders: Randy & Marilyn Miller (350-9821; email@example.com)
Focus: God’s design has never been for us to go at life alone. And yet, this is the place where so many men find themselves. Life is busy and responsibilities are demanding, but we are simply better off when we intentionally pursue growth in the community. We become better Christ followers, husbands, dads, leaders, and workers.
We would love to have you join us on Saturday mornings this year for Spirit-led fellowship, prayer, support and transformation; there’s a place for you to grow and belong at HBIC!
When & Where: 2nd & 4th Saturday @ 9 am in the upstairs front meeting area (Derry Street entrance)
Leaders: Dan Rosario (514-2406; firstname.lastname@example.org) and Christian Pearce (484-951-0700; email@example.com).
Focus: Prayer is essential. It is the primary way we communicate with God, and it is powerful! 1 John 5:14-15 says: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” All men are welcome to join us for this special and powerful time of prayer!
When & Where: On the 2nd Sunday of each month, from 8 - 8:45 am in the Small Youth Room
Leader: Tim Johnson (236-1910; firstname.lastname@example.org)
Focus: An in-depth Bible study focusing on the tools to equip us for our faith journey, not only to understand what we have in Christ or what He has done for us but also for learning disciplines to keep us grounded and rooted in Him and on a path to victorious and fruitful living.
When & Where: 1st & 3rd Saturday at 9 am in the upstairs front meeting area.
Leaders: Shanti Michael (982-4845; email@example.com) & Carmen Dones (592-0131; firstname.lastname@example.org)
